In Sarasota, where memory is often tied to a place—a favorite beach at sunset, a garden in bloom, a familiar table filled with family—the act of remembering can become a form of gathering. On October 31, the Tidewell Foundation’s annual Remembrance Walk will invite the community to turn that feeling outward: honoring those who have died while helping ensure that compassionate care remains available to the people who need it.

The morning is designed as both tribute and celebration. Participants can walk in memory of someone special, pause to reflect, and connect with others whose lives have also been touched by hospice and palliative care. Music will shape the atmosphere, while fundraising awards will recognize the supporters whose generosity helps extend Tidewell’s reach. A Full Life Fair will add a more expansive note, offering opportunities to engage with the many dimensions of living fully, even amid grief and change.

That balance is central to Tidewell’s work. Serving families across the region, Tidewell provides hospice, palliative care, grief support, and related services that help patients and loved ones navigate some of life’s most difficult passages. The Tidewell Foundation raises philanthropic support for services offered free of charge, including programs that might otherwise remain out of reach for families already carrying emotional and financial burdens. The Remembrance Walk gives that mission a visible, communal expression: every step can hold personal meaning, and every donation helps sustain care beyond what insurance or other resources may cover.

For Sarasota, the event also reflects a familiar civic instinct—the understanding that care is not only a private matter, but a community responsibility. Friends, relatives, caregivers, colleagues, and neighbors can arrive with different stories and still share the same purpose: to keep names, lives, and acts of kindness present.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the walk starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. Music, the Full Life Fair, remembrance opportunities, and the awards program will follow throughout the morning, creating a setting where reflection can sit comfortably alongside conversation, movement, and hope.
