By late October, when the Gulf Coast’s light softens and the evening air finally begins to feel like a change of season, Lakewood Ranch Main Street takes on a new identity: part neighborhood, part theater set, with costumed children at the center of the action. BooFest returns Friday, October 30, offering families a festive, free way to celebrate Halloween close to home—and giving local businesses a chance to become part of the evening’s story.

Presented by Veteran Air, the event turns the Main Street district into a trick-or-treating route lined with vendor booths and participating merchants. Children can arrive in costume with a trick-or-treat tote in hand, moving from storefront to storefront in a setting designed to make the holiday feel communal rather than hurried. For the first 2,500 attendees, Veteran Air will provide a free pumpkin trick-or-treat tote, a useful—and appropriately cheerful—souvenir for the evening.

The event’s family-friendly atmosphere reflects the role Lakewood Ranch Main Street has come to play in the region: a gathering place where dining, shopping, entertainment and community programming overlap. Halloween, with its invitation to dress up and linger outdoors, is particularly well suited to the district’s walkable streets and open-air energy. BooFest also offers a small but meaningful reminder that supporting local businesses can be part of a family outing, not a separate errand.

Younger guests will find the heart of the celebration in the Kids’ Zone, sponsored by Grace Community Church. Face painting, balloon twisting and inflatables will keep the activity moving, while hands-on experiments add a little curiosity to the traditional Halloween mix. Parents can browse the vendor offerings or settle in with food and drinks from local sellers as children explore the attractions.

Live music from Music Compund on the Main Stage will provide the evening’s soundtrack, adding a bit of grown-up ease to the candy-fueled festivities. The result is a Halloween gathering with something for different ages: treats for the youngest visitors, music and food for adults, and an atmosphere built around neighbors sharing the same stretch of street.

BooFest takes place Friday, October 30, 2026, at Lakewood Ranch Main Street, 8100 Lakewood Main St. Admission is free, and families are encouraged to come in costume with a trick-or-treat tote—while supplies last for the giveaway pumpkins.
