In a region often praised for its beaches, theaters and galleries, some of Sarasota’s most meaningful cultural work happens at a child’s eye level: on the floor, in the sandbox, or across a table scattered with crayons. That spirit is at the heart of 40 Carrots Partners in Play, a family-centered gathering coming to Lakewood Ranch this September.
Organized by 40 Carrots Family Center, the event reflects the Sarasota nonprofit’s long-standing belief that play is not a diversion from learning but one of its most essential forms. Through early childhood education, parenting support and family services, 40 Carrots has built a reputation for helping children thrive while giving parents practical tools and a stronger sense of community. Partners in Play extends that mission beyond the classroom, creating space for families to connect through shared activity and discovery.
That work carries particular resonance as the region continues to grow. Lakewood Ranch has become one of Southwest Florida’s most dynamic communities, drawing young families alongside longtime Sarasota-area residents. New neighborhoods bring new schools, parks and gathering places—but also an ongoing need for the relationships and support systems that make a community feel settled rather than simply developed. Events centered on children can offer an inviting entry point: a place where parents meet one another, children make friends, and the everyday business of growing up becomes a collective experience.
There is something quietly substantial about a program built around play. It recognizes that children learn through movement, imagination and repetition, while adults benefit from slowing down enough to observe, participate and listen. In that sense, Partners in Play is both an entertainment event and a public expression of 40 Carrots’ larger philosophy: healthy families are strengthened not only by services, but by time spent together.
For Sarasota and Manatee families, the gathering offers an opportunity to encounter the organization’s work in a relaxed, welcoming setting—and to remember that community-building can begin with something as simple as joining a child in play. 40 Carrots Partners in Play takes place Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 16410 Rangeland Parkway in Lakewood Ranch, Florida 34211.
