In a region where business relationships often begin over coffee and grow through conversation, the Events and Programming Committee helps shape the occasions that bring Lakewood Ranch’s professional community together. Its work is less about filling a calendar than about creating the kind of gatherings that give local businesses useful connections, timely ideas and a stronger sense of place.
The committee, part of the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, develops monthly networking socials and signature events designed to serve Alliance members in practical ways. Its programming may include luncheons, executive briefings, workshops and other educational opportunities, with an emphasis on subjects that reflect the changing needs of the business community. Behind each polished event is the quieter work of identifying relevant topics, coordinating speakers and formats, and considering how a gathering can offer more than introductions and exchanged business cards.
That role matters in Lakewood Ranch, where an expanding population and increasingly varied business landscape have created an energetic but sometimes diffuse professional network. Well-conceived programming can help connect established companies with emerging ventures, encourage collaboration across industries and give members a forum for learning from one another. It also contributes to the broader civic rhythm of the community, creating regular points of contact among the people who help shape its economy and daily life.
The committee meets monthly, offering a manageable way for Alliance members to contribute to the organization’s larger mission. The expected commitment is one to two hours per month, making participation accessible to professionals who want a hand in developing the region’s business culture without taking on a full-time volunteer role. Erin Watson, the committee’s chair, leads the effort and can be reached at erin@gameonnation.com for members interested in learning more.
The next Events and Programming Committee meeting takes place Monday, November 2, at 4 p.m. at the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, 5391 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. N. Meetings are open to Alliance members only, and the first-Monday schedule offers a dependable starting point for those who want to help build the conversations, gatherings and signature experiences that keep Lakewood Ranch’s business community connected.
