Florida Pops – Every Thursday, 10AM – 2PM

On a Sarasota morning, the difference between “pleasantly outdoors” and “why did I leave the house?” can be measured in degrees—and sometimes in popsicles. Beginning this September, Florida Pops is bringing a particularly welcome kind of relief to Nathan Benderson Park, where families, walkers, athletes, and anyone drawn to the water can pause for a handmade frozen treat.
The Florida Pops stand will be open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering all-natural, handmade popsicles in a range of refreshing flavors. It is the sort of small, easy pleasure that suits the park: something cool to enjoy between playground time, a stroll, or an afternoon spent taking in the open space and activity around the venue. For parents, it offers a snack with a little more character than the usual convenience-store stop; for everyone else, it is a flavorful excuse to slow down.
The weekly appearance also reflects the role Nathan Benderson Park plays in Sarasota’s community life. Better known to many as a destination for rowing and major sporting events, the park has grown into a broad gathering place for outdoor recreation, festivals, family outings, and everyday exercise. Its playground and event pavilion provide a natural setting for local businesses to meet the public in an informal, welcoming way. Florida Pops adds another layer to that rhythm, turning a regular park visit into a chance to support a small local enterprise.
There is something appealingly unhurried about the arrangement. No grand occasion is required, just a warm day, a little time outside, and the willingness to follow the sound of children playing or the promise of something cold and sweet. In a city where community often gathers around food, Florida Pops offers a portable version of that tradition—one that melts quickly, tastes of summer, and belongs comfortably in the landscape.
The Florida Pops stand will be at the Playground and Event Pavilion at Nathan Benderson Park on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The stand will return every Thursday during those hours, giving Sarasota residents and visitors a recurring way to cool off while supporting a local business.
