Mote SEA Yoga Flow
In Sarasota, the ocean is never merely scenery.

In Sarasota, the ocean is never merely scenery. It is a neighbor, a livelihood, a source of wonder—and an increasingly urgent responsibility. At Mote SEA, the region’s relationship with the living world beneath the Gulf’s surface comes into focus through science, education, and encounters with marine life. On one September evening, that attention will turn inward, inviting participants to explore the same sense of connection through breath and movement.
SEArenity Flow, presented by Samskara Yoga, is designed as a gentle, all-levels class inside the inspiring setting of Mote SEA. Rather than treating yoga as an escape from the world, the session frames it as a way of becoming more present within it. Mindful movement, breathwork, and relaxation will unfold alongside reflections on the ocean and the ecosystems it supports, offering a quiet counterpoint to the pace of daily life.
The setting gives the experience particular resonance. Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium has long connected Sarasota to marine research, conservation, and public education, translating complex questions about the Gulf and its inhabitants into experiences that feel immediate and personal. Mote SEA extends that mission in an expansive, visitor-facing environment at University Town Center, where the wonder of marine science can meet the rhythms of community life. Practicing yoga there creates an unusual but natural exchange: the body slows down while the imagination travels outward, toward coral reefs, seagrass beds, shorelines, and the countless forms of life that depend on healthy water.
For Samskara Yoga, the class is an opportunity to make that connection physical. A slower flow can sharpen awareness of breath and balance; a room shaped by ocean education can broaden the meaning of both. Participants may arrive looking for a restorative evening and leave with a renewed sense that environmental care begins, in part, with attention—attention to the body, to one another, and to the world that sustains us.
Mote SEA Yoga Flow takes place Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Mote Science Education Aquarium, 225 University Town Center Drive in Sarasota. The class offers a calm, thoughtful way to spend an evening in the company of the ocean, even while standing on land.
